Braintree offers a small business workshop

A free workshop for small businesses wishing to explore selling the business or its assets or transferring ownership to the next generation or others will be held from 8:25 a.m. to 11 a.m. on August 30 at the Richland County Foundation, 181 S. Main St. This workshop is coordinated by the Braintree Business Development Center, the region’s nonprofit incubation and entrepreneurship center. The presenters are Jack Stewart, lawyer and CPA, and Ed Klesack, registered financial consultant.

This workshop will be of interest to business and financial advisors, bankers and economic development professionals, as well as those interested in buying businesses. There is no cost for this workshop, but RSVP is requested. Contact Bob Cohen at braintreepartners.org.

Enrollment in the ongoing Columbia Gas budget plan

Columbia Gas announced that enrollment is open to all customers for the 2022-2023 budget plan. During the month of August, customers can enroll in the budget plan in one of three ways: simply pay the “budget payment” amount on their August bill; online at ColumbiaGasOhio.com/Budget, or call 1-800-344-4077 to speak to a customer service representative. The budget plan allows customers to avoid higher heating costs in winter by spreading payments over 12 months. Once enrolled, customers will pay the budget payment amount shown on their monthly bill from August 2022 through July 2023. The budget payment amount will be the same each month, eliminating guesswork for budgeting and avoiding increased heating during the winter season. Accounts are reviewed and adjusted, if necessary, for accuracy in March.

Each customer’s budget plan amount is calculated individually by looking at their historical usage rates, typical 30-year weather conditions, and the current and estimated cost of natural gas. The Budget Plan is free and open to all Columbia Gas customers.

For customers in need of assistance, Columbia Gas would like to remind customers that the Ohio Department of Development, in partnership with PUCO, has increased the threshold for the Percentage of Income Payment Plan, or PIPP, from 150% of the federal poverty level at 175%. . PIPP is a payment reduction program that allows eligible customers to pay only 5% of their monthly income or $10 for their gas service each month.

Solder earns CLU designation

Brian Souder de Mansfield, Managing Partner of Modern Woodmen of America, earned his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation from American College, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. The college specializes in vocational training in life insurance and related financial services.

The CLU program provides professionals with knowledge of financial services, income tax, economics, financial statement analysis, pension and retirement plans, investments, estate and gift tax planning and financial planning for business owners and professionals.
